Community Guidelines
How we keep Codtor a great place for every developer.
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Codtor is a community built by developers, for developers. These guidelines exist so that everyone — regardless of skill level, background, or experience — feels welcome and safe to create, share, and learn. By using Codtor, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal or account suspension.
Treat every member of the community with kindness and respect. Constructive feedback is welcome and encouraged — hostility, personal attacks, harassment, or hate speech of any kind are not.
- Critique ideas, not people.
- No slurs, threats, or discriminatory language based on race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic.
- Be patient with beginners — everyone starts somewhere.
2. Share Original or Properly Attributed Work
Only publish projects and snippets that you created or have the right to share. If your work builds on someone else's code, give credit where it's due.
- Do not copy and republish others' work as your own.
- Respect open-source licenses — check the license before reusing code.
- Forking a project is encouraged; passing it off as entirely original is not.
3. No Malicious or Harmful Code
Do not publish projects that are designed to harm, deceive, or exploit users or systems.
- No malware, phishing pages, keyloggers, or scripts that steal data.
- No cryptocurrency miners embedded in projects.
- No code designed to crash browsers or abuse system resources.
- No scripts that attempt to exploit browser security.
4. Keep Content Appropriate
This is a platform for web development work. Keep your projects and comments professional and appropriate for a general audience.
- No sexually explicit or adult content.
- No graphic violence or disturbing imagery.
- No content that promotes or glorifies illegal activities.
- No content targeting or endangering minors.
5. No Spam or Self-Promotion Abuse
Sharing your work is encouraged — that's what we're here for. But flooding the platform with low-effort or repetitive content is not.
- Don't publish dozens of near-identical projects to game trending lists.
- Don't use comments solely to promote unrelated products or services.
- Don't send unsolicited promotional messages to other users.
Do not share or expose other people's private or personal information without their consent.
- No doxxing — publishing someone's real name, address, phone number, or other private details.
- No impersonating other users or public figures.
- Do not collect or store user data from within your published projects without clear disclosure.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these guidelines, with or without prior notice, depending on severity.
- Minor violations: Content removed, warning issued.
- Repeated violations: Temporary suspension.
- Severe violations (malware, harassment, illegal content): Immediate permanent ban.
To report a violation, contact us with the URL of the content and a brief description.
